Summer Landscapes and Full Moon Rising Photography Tour with Carl Heilman II

Summer in the Adirondacks can be quite beautiful as well as challenging. Spend an afternoon and early evening photographing Adirondack landscapes, with Carl Heilman as your guide and mentor. The tour begins with a brief meeting at the Wild Center for an introduction and to cover any initial questions, before heading out to photograph the grandeur of summer. In this one day nature photography tour we will travel to several destinations that are within a 45 minute radius of Tupper Lake. The photo locations will include summer landscapes and waterways . Destinations may include the Long Lake / Tupper Lake area, the Saranac Lake / Bloomingdale area, or the Grasse River / Cranberry Lake area. Sunset is about 8 PM. Carl will be sure to find a good place to photograph the sunset light if conditions are looking good! A bonus for this photo tour is the timing coincides with a once a month opportunity to photograph the rising full moon with the last light of day in the eastern sky, just as sunset colors are starting to glow in the west.
All types of lens equipment could be used from macro / extension tubes to wide angle and telephoto lenses. It’s always good to bring along an umbrella and wet weather gear in case of showers.
This photography tour is designed for those who are comfortable with camera basics such as exposure, the relationship between aperture, shutter, and ISO settings, and their creative options. The afternoon will start with a brief introduction and question and answer period and the rest of the day will be spent with the camera, photographing at several different nearby locations. Carl will be available throughout the afternoon to answer any additional questions and provide help and guidance in the different shooting situations.
This nature photography tour is rated EASY - all of the photography will be reasonably close to the road, with minimal walking over rough or rocky terrain, with short hikes up to about one half mile. A maximum of 8 participants, allows plenty of opportunities for individual interaction throughout the day on the different photo shoots.
