This nature photography tour is rated EASY - all of the photography will be reasonably close to the road, with minimal walking over rough or rocky terrain, with short hikes up to about one half mile. A maximum of 8 participants, allows plenty of opportunities for individual interaction throughout the day on the different photo shoots.
Spring Lakes and Waterfalls Tour:
Come and enjoy the diversity of spring landscape photography along the beautiful lakes and dramatic waterfalls of the central Adirondacks with Carl Heilman II as your guide and mentor. In this one day nature photography tour we will travel to several destinations that are within about a 45 minute radius of Tupper Lake. The photo locations will include a variety of gentle cascades, waterfalls and spring landscapes.
By mid-May the forest is bursting with the colors of fresh spring greens. Fiddleheads nod in the breeze, and shadbush trees are in bloom along the shorelines. Destinations may include Buttermilk Falls, Bog River Falls, Tupper Lake, Simon Pond, Horseshoe Lake, Raquette Pond and the Raquette River; or the Grasse River, Oswegatchie River and Cranberry Lake area. All types of lens equipment could be used from macro / extension tubes to wide angle and telephoto lenses. There may be some black flies, so please bring along insect protection as well as an umbrella and wet weather protection for possible May showers.
Fall Landscapes and Waterways Tour:
Spend a day photographing the west central Adirondacks during the peak of fall color in the area, with Carl Heilman II as your guide and instructor. After meeting briefly at The Wild Center for an introduction and to answer some initial questions, the rest of the day will be spent visiting and photographing at several different photo destinations along the roadways, lakes, and waterways within a reasonable distance of The Wild Center.
