 Expeditionary PLEIN AIR +: with James Lancel McElhinney 

This experience has been created for all adult learners, regardless of talent or experience. Discover how drawing from nature can promote environmental awareness, foster self-improvement and nurture personal wellness. Our focus will be discovering how mindful observation can enrich our lives and foster personal wellness. The only masterpieces we hope to create are better versions of ourselves. 

Materials: Small pocket journals and pencils will be provided. Please feel welcome to bring your own journal. For working outside, appropriate clothing, a wide-brimmed hat, insect repellent, sunscreen, and drinking water are advised. 

James Lancel McElhinney is a published author and visual artist focused on topics related to travel, history, and art, and the environment. McElhinney is a Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture alumnus with a BFA from Tyler School of Art and an MFA in painting from Yale. He is the recipient of a Pollock Krasner Grant, and National Endowment for the Arts Visual Artist fellowship. Recent solo exhibitions include James McElhinney: Discover the Hudson Anew at the Hudson River Museum in Yonkers, NY, On the Water: The Schuylkill River, at Independence Seaport Museum in Philadelphia. PA, and American Nocturnes at Gerald Peters Gallery in Santa Fe. McElhinney is an Arthur Miller Foundation Artist & Industry Council member, and a Trustee of the Hudson River Museum in Yonkers.
