Join us at The Wild Center on October 21st - 22nd for the 16th annual Adirondack Youth Climate Summit (AYCS): an engaging, two-day event where you’ll connect with other regional schools, explore climate solutions, and create your own Climate Action Plan to bring back to your school or community.
Climate change is the ultimate complex issue. At the AYCS, we convene and empower the next generation of climate changemakers to take climate action. Through standards-aligned, hands-on workshops focusing on interdisciplinary climate topics like climate science, energy, local food systems and climate communication, students gain the knowledge needed to build student-driven Climate Action Plans. During the Climate Action Hub, students gain exposure to a wide variety of careers in climate by networking with professionals who work in fields like clean energy, public health, local government, engineering and outdoor education. Students leave the summit ready to accelerate change in their schools and communities and foster a more resilient future for the Adirondack region.
At the summit, students will:
Attend hands-on workshops led by climate experts
Hear from inspiring speakers
Team up with students from across the Adirondack region
Build a real plan to tackle climate change locally
At the summit, teachers will:
Get a head start on implementing the new NYS climate education requirements
Learn how summit content helps advance the NYS Portrait of a Graduate priorities
Connect with other teachers and experts from across the Adirondack region
Help support students to prepare learn, grow, innovate and contribute meaningfully to society through student-driven Climate Action Plans
Whether you're a science, language, history or health teacher, a school librarian or administrator, or a homeschool parent, we invite you and a group of students from your school to join us for 2 action packed days. If you’re looking for inspiration, community, and tangible ways to take action on climate change, we would love to meet you at the Adirondack Youth Climate Summit on October 21-22!
